It's called a RX-8 and no one bought them either.
Really?

  • Re: Toyota GT 86 convertible, on its way!!
I don't think Mazda have lost the plot, just it is usual cycle of product development. A product comes out, it's designed to meet a specification, 2 years down the line the focus groups are involved. "What would you like in this product that would make you buy it? You can't keep making the ...

  • Re: Ex demonsrators
More by luck than judgement the salesman is partly correct. Subaru`s first flat 4 engine was essentialy a water-cooled copy of  VW aircooled flat 4 (a tuned-up version of which was used in the original Porsche Speedster, so another tenious link there) Certainly the gearbox from an air-cooled Beetle ...
Arctic or Artic - My '5 keeps getting confused with an HGV !
I can sympathise with this. In Oct 2011 I bought a one owner Arctic which my ex wife has been running ever since. It frequently gets called an Artic, even by family members. An unashamed plug, the Arctic is for sale if anyone's ...
Did he say "its a boxer engine" or did he actually use the P word, well it is a boxer, a flat 4, like what they put in Subarus, so he was right...
He said 'it's the engine out of the Porsche Boxster'. . . . we said our understanding is that it's the Subaru flat four Boxer ...

  • Re: Toyota GT 86 convertible, on its way!!
The Mk1 was very enjoyable, but it got fat and boring with every iteration.
Reluctant as I am to acknowledge this I suspect it's true. It's like NickD remarks, the bulk of MX5 purchasers are not 'focused' drivers and the current standard car does indeed cater for that. I'm ...

  • Re: Toyota GT 86 convertible, on its way!!
Was it a manual ?  Most Toyota Dealers appear to have automatic demonstrators in white.  To answer another post, I believe prices are already "negotiable" by pragmatic dealers.
Yes, it was a manual in burnt orange. Overpriced at £23000 with 7000 miles. We asked if they'd ...

  • Re: Ex demonsrators

Perhaps I'm wrong but I reckoned there's a big difference between a hot engine being thrashed a bit and a cold engine bring redlined. Mind you, this same salesman told us that the engine in the GT86 is from the Porche Boxster!

Anyone ever bought one? It occurred to me yesterday as the salesman revved the GT86 cold engine to redline in first gear that demonstrators are abused.
