for the whine you need to use a surpressor possibly on the power lines, im not sure what the resistance is on the adaptor i used, i will try and meter it next time i have hte stereo out.

  • Re: Swapping BOSE head unit?

You are putting too high an input into the Bose amp, ie you are driving the amp from the speaker output of your headunit, you need to either throttle back the speakers via some resistors or try driving the bose amp with the preouts of your headunit. I have just changed the headunit in my mk3 and the loom came with a seperate speaker lead ...

Fitted an auto dimming mirror and replaced the factory Bose headunit with a kenwood double din, used a connects 2 loom so still have steering wheel remote and thanks to some resistors in the loom the Bose amp and speakers are still happy. Even still changes the equilisation curve when you go roof down :)

  • Re: pop up lights blowing fuses

Can you post pictures? they would help, has it got aftermarket gas discharge lighting? As for the switch get a diagram of the pin outs and test with a multimeter.   Waht happens if you bridge the relay and manually activate the headlights?

  • Re: DAB problem

Have you got it mounted horizontaly or vertical? it needs to be vertical to get the best reception, and have you put the 12v feed to the amplifier via the electric ariel feed from the headunit? if you have done both of these look at a proper body mount FM/AM DAB antenna.   Speakers could just be age, it dosent cost a lot to get a decent ...

I would double check your wiring, sounds like you are shoving either 12v down a ground wire or vice versa. have you plugged the switches between the airvents back in?

Fitted 4300k HID bulb kit and realigned the lights, then modified the foglights (again) with a 5 pin relay so that they run as DRL's in the daytime but automatically switch off when the lights are turned on, the foglights can then be used in the normal manner. also fitted 2 orange LED's into the rear view mirror to act as ambient night ...
