Owing to the Marathon that was happening in Bournemouth on the same day and the consequent challenges we experienced in parking up together, it was impossible to count how many cars attended the event. We certainly had 50+ cars leave from Swindon and my guess is that number was easily doubled at Bournemouth. So perhaps a tad down ...

The RS definately has the lightweight flywheel. The seats are different to the standard early Mk2 models - somewhere between the late Mk1 / early Mk2 type and the later Mk2.5 type. I haven't weighed them yet to be able make the comparison.

Hi Max,
I bought a 1998 1.8 RS last summer as a restoration project. I paid £2500 for the car and have now spent upwards of £1500 on the project. I'd be very interested to learn how much you paid for yours; please PM me if you are unwilling to disclose such detail on an open forum.
