fitted the same to my MK3 2 weeks ago, no problems.

Have you spotted the 1996 'N' Reg import on the forum.  It's the same colour as the Merlot. It may be worth a look.  

Have just fitted a connection bought from 'MX5 parts'.  Ordered it Friday and it arrived on Saturday morning. It costs about £75, is really easy to fit (I mean minutes) and sounds good too.  A whole lot cheaper than getting a connection fitted by a Mazda dealer.
