Typical, been waiting for such a post for ages, been trawling through the pages on Ebay and finally gave up hope and bought a set from MX5 parts at the spring rally.
Sure you'll sell them easily as they do smarten up the rear of the Mk1s

We buy ours from our local garden centre, pond salt tonic.
We have a permanent underground filter system running 24/7 but we used to suffer terribly from blanket weed and green water.

One of the ways we were told was to use pond salt to reduce the nitrate levels, it doesnt harm the fish of other aquatic life (newts, taddies etc) We have tried all the bottled potions but barley straw and pond salt seem to help keep ours clear, well at least we can see our fish at the boittom of the pond.

I am no expert, but if the volt meter is only showing 8volts across the terminals with the engine running then I would strongly suspect the alternator to be at fault.
You could try giving the battery a good 24hr charge, then check the voltage, and again the following day to see if its holding charge.

Thats them? and good to know they enjoyed Glen Coe as much as we do, its one of our favourites routes and have been driving through it for over 30 years.
Scotland has always been a favourite destination of ours and even more so now we have the MX, loads more to explore in the years ahead.

One to consider is the run across to Applecross, we did it last year and it was fantastic, but petrol stations are a bit hard to find?
We wanted to stay longer after the rally to enjoy the quite roads and glens but theres always September.

I agree, it was a good weekend, we didnt do the rally dinner etc as thats not our scene, but we did enjoy the rally day, like you spent a few quid with MX5 parts and enjoyed meeting fellow fivers from all over the country and EU, who for a change gave a wave, a flash of headlights and often both.
