• Re: The New MX-5 ND, Mark 4 speculation thread, part two...
there is nothing "nice" about a diesel engine; the vibration, the noise at idle, the smell, the occasional cloud of smog when it's been driven gently for too many miles and you boot it.
I owned a modern turbo-diesel for 5 years. For the first 2 of those years it was my ...

  • Re: How in the world has my car passed all it's MOT's?!?!

As others have mentioned, it's OK to use the high-level brake-light.  It's only a problem if you wire it up to be both a brake-light and a fog-light : that would fail the lighting regs.  See: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/schedule/11/made The fog light must be between 25cm and 1m from the ground.  Some ...

  • Re: Angle grinders

If you don't own a grinder, a £5 wire brush attachment and a decent powerdrill would clean up surface rust.

  • Re: Fuel Filler Area Drain Hole?

Take some of the boot trim out and you should easily see where it goes.

  • Re: Blyton 1-3 All you need to know

But to be fair mate, Paul was lapping us all in a standard road car at the Mission Motorsport day...
On the surface it appeared to be an ordinary road car. at the hands of an ex tt bike racer turned to four wheels.
I still remember ...

  • Re: Blyton 1-3 All you need to know
Rachel please do, it's incredible the difference the rollcage makes to the rigidity of the car. Rodders is always in great demand but I'd also suggest Chris Bexon (in the Satzoomer) is worth a punt, Louise went out with him last year and came back smiling...I assume it was the driving that did ...

  • Re: Keys!

Which bit is falling apart?  The blade that goes into the lock, the transponder/electronic circuit board or the casing? The casings look generic.  It looks like it should be possible to swap your original transponder into the ebay-casing.

  • Re: Speedo or Sat Nav which would you trust?
Annex 3 of those regulations give more lax requirements for production vehicles.
Yes it does.  The way I read it cars can differ by 2kph, but the Type Approval still needs to be done at the more accurate tolerances.  So the cars can't be designed to exhibit the wider tolerance.  It ...

  • Re: Speedo or Sat Nav which would you trust?
Speedos fitted to production cars are calibrated to indicate about 5mph faster than actual road speed.
I'm not sure that it strictly true.  My undertsanding is that they're allowed to be out by a small amount, but that's not always 5mph.  Anacdotal evidence suggests that some ...
