    If you buy the chrome bootrack (MX5 parts) it comes with uprated gas struts to compensate for the extra weight, i'm sure a search on MX5 parts or even a phone call would give you what you need. I still have the box and part numbers if you have no joy, i'll have a dig about in my garage in the daylight if you still need.

    When you've got the problem have you tried putting a spare sparkplug in the suppresor cap to check you have a good spark? Maybe it's a weak hydraulic lifter, i'm not over sure on MX5 engines but i do work on a lot of other engines and the lifter pistons have o'rings which can fail i.e. they won't hold the delivered oil until ...

    Ok, then it's got to be roadster 1980 ( Ste ), as he works in a Wigan bodyshop, well worth knowing as it's a very reputable bodyshop, he possibly frequents nutz more than here.
