We then drive through the Derbyshire countryside to Congleton, where we will stop for refreshments at our usual garden centre. From there, its small country roads all the way into Llangollen and lunch at the top of the very windy horse shoe pass. This is listed as one of Top Gears greatest roads and if you've never driven it, you're in for a treat. The road rises to a height of 2053 ft, with gradients of 1 in 5 and hairpin bends. Have a look at this Lotus 7 crossing part of the road from the Lochcarron side. Our lunch break will be at Applecross. If we have a large group we may split up into two or three groups which would save a lot of time and give more choice for everyone. After a request from Central Scotland to 'intergrate'  with us and in the interests of inter area goodwill we've been looking for accommodation in our area for our MX-5 freinds and neighbours. Okie Dokie, the plan is this...After looking at various hotels in the area and our fact finding mission last Wednesday to Berwick on Tweed, we think the best place to stay is at The Holiday Inn @ Seaton Burn, near Newcastle. It has a huge car park, a bar and lounge area, three restaurants, a Gym and a swimming pool. It isn't too far away from Holy Island. The other hotels either didn't have enough rooms or were too expensive. (Over £120 per room)The Premier Inn at Woodhorn would have been perfect but it only has twenty rooms in total,  Seaton Burn suits everyone, it isn't too far for Yorkshire Ridings and Peak & Pennines, however Central Scotland will have to travel south but they will benefit by a shorter journey home after the rounders match. I've already discussed it with Chic Kennedy from Scotland and he is quite happy about that.  I have checked availability for the evening of Saturday 3rd July and the Holiday Inn has plenty of rooms available @ £64.00 per room, for room only, based on two sharing . I tried to pre book 30 rooms on a provisional basis but they wanted payment up front from me for that price and it is non refundable..my credit card hid in the corner and won't come out.. I could have got the booking on a non pre-paid basis if we'd  been prepared to pay £80 per room, for room only or £90 inc breakfast and I think that is too much to pay. If you want breakfast you could always eat at the Little Chef next door..see below. ** If you're interested in staying at the Holiday Inn on Saturday 3rd July  could you please book with the hotel direct. Entrants will be given their route maps at the registration point, where they can also get refreshments (free tea and coffee, bacon sandwiches at a small cost etc…), and from where they will also be started at regular intervals. The journey will be approximately 100miles and will involve several stops at places of interest as well as stops for refreshments etc and will culminate in a display of all the cars at the finish line in one of the Peak Districts historic locations (it's a secret until you get there) around mid afternoon. Current cost for this is £34 each way, however the prices do rise.            Parking in Bruges is tough but I have found a good hotel in the City Centre at around £91 per night for 2 people, that has its own car park.  We have plenty of interest in this trip so it looks like its going to be a great weekend.
