The term steeplechase derived from cross country horse racing when the riders rode across country from one church to the next. As Suffolk is full of churches here is a chance for you to exercise your MX5 though keeping strictly to the roads and with no hedge jumping permitted!

All you have to do is visit 21 Suffolk churches, name them and identify whether they have a spire or a tower whilst using only maps and you and any partner’s sense of direction. Sneaky satnav or smartphone use will be treated with the contempt that deserves.

Still interested? Then the start will be from :- The Suffolk Water Park, Lorraine Way, Bramford, IP8 4JS. Please meet at 10:00 am for a briefing and to receive further details. Cars will then leave from 10:30am at 5 minute intervals. You may wish to arrive a little earlier as the Diner there serves delicious bacon rolls etc.

The finish will be at Parham Airfield (www.parhamairfieldmuseum.co.uk) where again there is a café with tea, coffee and light snacks. There is also a picnic area should you prefer. Entrance to the museum is free, though donations are much welcomed.

Depending on your navigational skills the run should take 2-2.5 hours and around 60miles. Bragging rights will be awarded for the shortest recorded mileage.

Hope to see you on the 8th.
